Album Review: Hate Beyond “Verge of Death”

Artist: Hate Beyond
Album: Verge of Death
Year: 2016
Genre: Death/Thrash Metal
Rating: 8.5/10

I got my hands on Hate Beyond’s latest album, “Verge of Death” just recently. I must say it’s always welcoming to see some more death/thrash in this modern day. Death/thrash is one of the genres that I feel is very difficult to go wrong with, and Hate Beyond from Osaka is one of those bands.

To introduce this band, these guys have been around for a good fourteen years, and this is their fourth full-length release. The guitarist, Warzy, the only original member of this band is also a member of bands such as Grim Force (thanks to a friend of mine for mentioning these guys), his own solo project, and also Narcotic Greed (who released the cult classic “Fatal”). Warzy is one hell of a guitarist, and this album shows that.

In each and every song, Warzy puts on some really ripping solos and riffs. Some really fast and brutal death metal here, I would say it reminds me a lot of Vader or the Brazilian band Nervochaos. Warzy is definitely a talented axman, and a lot of the riffs in this album prove it. If you’re looking for some really high-octane death metal with fast, ripping riffs and solos, get this album.

If you want to get your hands on this piece of hellish brutality, go on to Jackhammer Music. You can also get the band’s t-shirt and also stuff from Warzy’s other bands such as Narcotic Greed’s “Fatal”.
